Michael S. Newman was the founder, President and Engineering Manager of CSI Telecommunications, Inc., until 2019. Mike Newman had 50 years of telecommunications engineering experience in microwave and radio transmission engineering, mobile radio systems engineering, and specialized areas including fiber optics and communications dispatch centers. He was responsible for the design and implementation of microwave systems for the public and private sectors, using both analog and digital technologies. Prior to founding CSI, Mike was responsible for microwave systems development at Pacific, Gas, & Electric, SP Communications, and GTE Sprint.
Mike represented CSI as the voting member for ANSI (American National Standards Institute), ATIS Standards (Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions), and TIA Standards (Telecommunications Industry Association). He was a voting member of the IEEE Standards Association. He has also participated in the development of many standards; he initiated the TIA TSB-10 Committee that is updating microwave interference standards referenced in FCC Part 101.
Mike held a Bachelor of Science from the University of Utah. He was a Life Member of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), and was a Charter/Founding Life Member of NARTE (National Association of Radio and Telecommunications Engineers). He held an FCC General Class Radio Telephone License and ws an IEEE Communications Society certified Wireless Communications Professional.
